The Added Value of Blockchain Technology for the Pharma Supply Chain
Blockchain technology can be a good way to exchange information all along the pharmaceutical supply chain, from pharmaceutical manufacturer all the way to the patient.
Blockchain is a ‘trust machine’, as Marc Gardette, Cloud Strategy Director at Microsoft, said during his recent presentation at the Paris Serialization Summit. Through Blockchain technology, transactions on the pharmaceutical supply chain that are recorded in the blockchain database are electronically signed and mathematically guaranteed to be genuine. They can be shared with everyone in real time and everyone authorized to access transaction information can be sure information is correct and unfalsified. But, Blockchain technology can provide much more.
It has the potential to add value to the pharmaceutical supply chain.
In this interview, Marc Gardette, Cloud Strategy Director at Microsoft, explains how and why.
